Not bad for an amateur. We are about 30 miles away from where the moon was raising above the mountains. A harvest moon at that.
As I also said, I like to crochet. A friend of the family, Darla Masey, crochets everything. She
even makes her own patterns. Before I found placemat patterns on line, she had one that she had created herself. It is the best pattern I have ever tried.
Here are the instructions:
Darla's Placemats
Use a size "I" hook
Round 1: Ch 16. DC in 3rd ch from hook. 1 DC in same ch. 2 DC in next ch. 1 DC in next 10 ch. 2 DC in next ch, 4 DC in last ch. Working on the opposite side of ch st, 2 DC in next ch. 1 DC in next 10 ch. 2 DC in next chain, 2 DC in last ch. Join.
Round 2: Ch 3, 1 DC in joining st. 2 DC in next 2 st. 1 DC in next 11 st. 2 DC in next 3 st.1 DC in next st. 2 DC in next 3 sts. 1 DC next 11 sts. 2 DC in next 4 sts. Join
Round 3: Ch 3, 2 DC in next 3 sts. 1 DC in next 17 sts. 2 DC in next 3 sts. 1 DC in next st, 2 DC in next 3 sts. 1 DC in next 17 sts. 2 DC in next 3 sts. Join.
Round 4: Ch 4. Skip one space, 1 DC in next st. *Ch 1, skip one space, 1 DC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Join.
Round 5: Ch 3. 2 DC in Ch 1 sp, 1 DC in DC space around. Join.
Round 6: Ch 3, 2 DC in next 3 sts. DC in next 38 sts. 2 DC in next 3 sts, 1 DC in next st, 2 DC in next 3 sts. 1 DC in next 38 sts. 2 DC in next 3 sts. Join.
Round 7: Ch 4. Skip one space, 1 DC in next st. *Ch 1, skip one space, 1 DC in next st.* Repeat from * to * around. Join.
Round 8: Ch 3. 2 DC in Ch 1 sp, 1 DC in DC space around. Join.
Round 9: Ch 4. *skip 2 sts, SC in next st,Ch 3*. Repeat from * to * around. Join
Round 10: Ch 4. 1 SC in each Ch 3 space around. Join.
Round 11: Ch 5. 1 SC in each Ch 3 space around. Join.
Round 12: Ch 1. * SC in first Ch 4 space, 5 DC in next Ch 4 sp. Repeat from * to * around. Join.
